Patrick Terry's attempt to replicate his P. Terry's burger success with a similar taco model (relying on simplicity, quality ingredients, some nostalgia and drive-thru service to create a craveable and replicable experience) has come to an end.

The owners of Taco Ranch announced Thursday that they have closed its sole location in Southwest Austin after five years in business. The announcement comes on the heels of P. Terry's opening a drive-thru only location in Bastrop (its 31st in Central Texas) and as the company looks at growth into the Houston market next summer.

“It’s with mixed emotions we announce the impending closure of Taco Ranch,” P. Terry’s CEO Todd Coerver said in a release. “We sincerely appreciate the loyal following that made Taco Ranch successful. But as P. Terry’s continues to grow and prepare for entry into the Houston market in 2024, it’s imperative we have everyone’s full attention on our P. Terry’s expansion, to ensure its success.”

The former Taco Ranch building at 5033 W. US 290, located in the same parking lot as Chick-fil-A, will become a Cabo Bob's restaurant. The new P. Terry's in Bastrop is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner at 484 W. Texas 71.
