P.O.D. have returned with the new song “Drop,” featuring guest vocals from Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe.

“When you hear it, you know it’s P.O.D.!” declared the band’s Sonny Sandoval, and he’s not wrong. The track touches all the P.O.D. bases. Sandoval’s flow is infectious and tight, and heavy rap-metal breakdowns are balanced against more melodic, alt-rock sections.

Blythe’s cameo occurs in the middle break of the song. He growls and narrates vicious lines while guitarist Marcos Curiel’s riffs build to one of the song’s many drops — the track’s title being very appropriate in this case.

“‘Drop’ is another one of a kind, unparalleled banger that sets this band apart from everyone else,” boasted Sandoval.

The San Diego band has been relatively quiet over the past few years. Sandoval and company released a short Christmas lullaby track in 2020; otherwise, they haven’t put out a proper single since the album cycle for 2018’s Circles.

P.O.D. are best known for their 2001 album Satellite and its string of hit singles: “Alive,” “Youth of the Nation,” and “Boom.” Since forming in the early ’90s, the band’s sound has been defined by a combination of heavy Deftones-esque alt-metal and Sandoval’s rap delivery and Christian lyrical themes.
