Sharon Osbourne and Ozzy Osbourne celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary in July 2023, but the pair have known each other even longer than that. They were introduced in 1970 when Sharon's father, Don Arden, worked for Ozzy's band, Black Sabbath.

The couple got serious when Sharon took over managing duties after Ozzy left Black Sabbath, and they got married in Hawaii in 1982. They went on to have three children together: Aimée, Kelly and Jack Osbourne.

Kelly and Jack joined their parents on four seasons of The Osbournes in March 2002, and the family was collectively launched into international fame for a new generation of fans.

Sharon and Ozzy have endured a lot over the years, but they've maintained a refreshing honesty about their highs and lows.

"Over 52 years we have been friends, lovers, husband & wife, grandparents and soulmates," Sharon once wrote on Instagram. "Always at each other's side. I love you Ozzy."

Here's everything to know about Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne's relationship.

Sharon and Ozzy were introduced in 1970 when she was only 18 years old. Her father was managing Ozzy's band Black Sabbath at the time, but sparks didn't fly between them until several years later.

1979: Sharon begins managing Ozzy

Nearly a decade later, Ozzy was kicked out of Black Sabbath due to substance abuse issues, and he spent three months in a hotel under the influence until Sharon stepped in and helped him recover. She also took over as his manager the same year. After encouraging him to pursue a solo career, he released his 1980 debut single "Crazy Train," and it became a hit.

Around the same time, Sharon and Ozzy started dating.

Sharon and Ozzy welcomed their first child, Aimée, in London on Sept. 2, 1983. The following year, their second baby, daughter Kelly, was born on Oct. 27, 1984. They welcomed their third child and only son, Jack, on Nov. 8, 1985.

While Kelly and Jack followed their parents into the spotlight, Aimée has lived the most private life. She chose not to participate in the family's MTV reality series in the early 2000s and later explained to New York's Q1043 radio show why she made the choice.

"It definitely worked great for the rest of my family, but for me, and who I am, I just knew it was never something that I would have been able to consider realistically," she said in August 2020.

1989: Ozzy is arrested for attempted murder

In 1989, Ozzy was arrested for attempting to kill Sharon while under the influence. Sharon later discussed the incident with The Guardian in 2001, claiming Ozzy told her, "I've decided you have to go," before lunging at her and trying to strangle her. She called the police, who arrested him on the spot.

Ultimately, Sharon didn't press charges against her husband, who was ordered to rehab for three months. She told the outlet, "He was totally insane from all the drink and drugs he was doing, and well, these things happen."

In 2022, the singer told PEOPLE, "I wasn't exactly Mr. Prince Charming when I drank booze."

After the 1989 incident, the Osbourne family seemed to enjoy a few quiet years while Sharon and Ozzy raised their three children. That said, in March 2002, they announced that four of the five family members would star in an MTV reality show called The Osbournes.

The show was a success and introduced the family to a new generation. "Surprised is the f------ understatement of the millennium!" Ozzy told Hot Press in December 2002 of his reaction to the show being such a success.

"I mean, before we did the TV show, I was Ozzy Osbourne the legendary rock'n'roller, and now I'm this f------ demi-god!" he added. "I'm on the front of all these f------ magazines ... f--- me, it's mad!"

The Osbourne family starred on their TV show for four years before stepping back from public life again. However, in 2013, rumors began circulating that Ozzy had relapsed and the pair were preparing to divorce.

The musician was quick to set the record straight, writing on Facebook, "For the last year and a half I have been drinking and taking drugs. I was in a very dark place and was an a------ to the people I love most, my family," he wrote. "However, I am happy to say that I am now 44 days sober."

Additionally, Ozzy clarified that he and Sharon were not divorcing. "I'm just trying to be a better person," he continued. "I would like to apologize to Sharon, my family, my friends, and my band mates for my insane behavior during this period ... and my fans. God Bless, Ozzy."

Weeks later, Ozzy's former hairstylist Michelle Pugh spoke to PEOPLE about her extramarital affair with the singer. Pugh claimed that she and Ozzy had a four-year affair that began in 2012.

“I can’t deny that I fell in love with a married man that pursued me, but this narrative that is out there that I am some groupie that went after him because of money — it’s just simply not true,” she told PEOPLE. “That is not the situation.”

At the time, a representative for Ozzy told PEOPLE that the musician was in "intense therapy" for sex addiction and that Pugh "took their sexual relationship out of context."

"He is sorry if Ms. Pugh took their sexual relationship out of context. He would like to apologize to the other women he has been having sexual relationships with," the rep said in a statement. "Out of the bad comes good. Since his relationship with Ms. Pugh was exposed, Ozzy has gone into intense therapy."

She also shared how she found out about the affairs in the first place — via email. "Ozzy on one couch and me on the other, and suddenly, he sends me this email," she explained. "'Why did you send me this stupid email?' I asked."

"When Ozzy told me that he hadn't sent me anything, I grabbed his phone and said, 'Look!' And of course it was a message meant for one of his bloody women," the former TV personality concluded.

"This is probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to share with my loyal fans," he wrote in a statement posted on Instagram.
