Ozzy Osbourne Recalls Feeling Scared Upon Watching “The Exorcist” for the First Time: 'We Shat Ourselves'

"We'd never seen anything like it before," said Osbourne of watching the 1973 horror film with friends upon its release

Ozzy Osbourne might be the Prince of Darkness, but horror movies can be too much for him.

On a new episode of SiriusXM's Ozzy's Boneyard show with co-host Billy Morrison, the "Crazy Train" rocker recalled feeling especially spooked after watching The Exorcist for the first time with friends upon its 1973 release.

"I can remember as if it was yesterday, the manager of Black Sabbath, Patrick Meehan, called me and he says, 'You all have to go and see this f---ing film, The Exorcist. Take into consideration — we'd never seen anything like it before," said Osbourne, 74.

"We all went to this f---ing theater in Philadelphia, and we shat ourselves," continued the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member. "It was f---ing horrific. We had to go and see [1973 heist film] The Sting afterwards."

Elsewhere in the Ozzy's Boneyard episode, Osbourne said he's not interested in making any horror films of his own — and revealed he tried to work with Rob Zombie on one of the White Zombie musician's films.

"No, I can't. It's too slow," said Osbourne of the prospect of making a horror movie, referring to the amount of time required for film production. He then added of Zombie: "I asked him to give me a cameo part in one of his movies. He never got back to me."

In a recent episode of The Osbournes Podcast, the Grammy winner spoke about another onscreen project he won't be taking part in anytime soon: a revival of his family's reality TV show, which ran for four seasons on MTV until 2005.

While Osbourne acknowledged the series was the "best diary" for the future, he noted that the show made him "a bit crazy at times."

“It’s so intrusive in your house,” he said. “At the time, I said I wanted a safe room where I could go and pick my nose and squeeze a zit if I want to without being on camera, and they had a f---ing camera in there. When you’ve got hidden cameras, you start to freak out.”

Osbourne explained that as the seasons went on the show became more "unreal," and Jack added that's “why I don’t think we’ll ever do another season."

“It won’t happen again. Never in a million years," he concluded, to which his son Jack agreed: “To be honest with you, I don’t think it should."
