Earlier this year Ozark finally returned to Netflix for its fourth season, which also happens to be its last. The series was split into two installments—the seven episodes of part one dropped on the streamer in January. As for the second, and final, set of episodes, Netflix surprised fans last month with an earlier-than-expected premiere date (April 29). Now with a new trailer and photos, there are more clues to how this gritty saga might end for the Byrdes.

Here's what we know so far about the show's next chapter:

From the looks of it, Ruth (Julia Garner) is on the warpath, Marty (Jason Bateman) is questioning his choices, and things are not looking good for the dangerously impulsive cartel capo Javier.

There is also a mini-documentary in the works.

A Farewell to Ozark will drop along with the final episodes next month. The 30-minute retrospective will go behind the scenes of the last season as well as dive into the origin of the series and its richly developed, highly complicated characters.

Last month the streamer released a teaser clip.

The minute-long clip focuses on Ruth. Just as in the last scene of the end of season 4, part 1, she is driving in the car, volatile and emotional after the explosive events of the last episode, as she narrates: "My childhood traumas are not like yours. You see, I'm a cursed Langmore."

The final seven episodes will arrive this spring.

Mark your calendars. "The end arrives, sooner than you think," says the teaser above, which is both in reference to what will become of Marty, Wendy, Ruth, and co. and that the wait for the final seven episodes won't be as long as we thought—they will drop on Netflix on April 29, 2022.

Season four will be the show's final chapter.

Per Netflix's official announcement, it will be 14 episodes split into two parts of 7-episodes each.

"We're so happy Netflix recognized the importance of giving Ozark more time to end the Byrdes' saga right. It's been such a great adventure for all of us -- both on screen and off -- so we're thrilled to get the chance to bring it home in the most fulfilling way possible," showrunner Chris Mundy has said.

Bateman, too, is on-board with how things end.

"I do know where everything is going to end," Bateman said, per IndieWire. "I was interested in the big question he has the opportunity to answer: Are they going to get away with it, or are they going to pay a bill? What does he want to message to the audience about the consequences of what the Byrdes have done – or lack thereof?"

He continued: "We had some great conversations about that, and he's got really good ideas about that. Specifically, what kind of happens at the end of the last episode: I know, and it's great."

Mundy previously spoke of wanting as many as seven seasons.

"Well, if we’re lucky enough to get a season four, I think it will be about whether or not Ruth really can create something of her own that she wants and is sustainable, or if she wants something else," he said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly in March of 2020. "And I think it will be about if the Byrdes can they turn the biggest mistake of their lives into this huge advantage, and how much will karma catch up with them if they do?"

But he previously spoke of wanting as many as seven seasons for the show.

"We've always talked about it as five seasons. It could be four, it could be seven... but that always seemed like a good number to us," Mundy said during a panel at the Milken Global Conference in Beverly Hills last spring.

Actor Bruce Davison joined the production.

Per Deadline, he'll "play Randall Schafer, a powerful retired Illinois U.S. Senator who is accustomed to doing things his way," joining a well-established cast of characters.

We'll keep you posted as soon as we hear more about the future of the series.
