Owners of beloved ice cream shop horrified to find out they rented their space for a rap video

Cindy’s Drive-In is a staple in Granby, Mass. The beloved ice cream shop, known for its thick shakes and foot-long hot dogs, is reminiscent of simpler times and was even dubbed “Best Place to Become a Regular” by MassLive.

“We strive to be wholesome and we do things for the community,” Cynthia Maloni, who has owned the drive-in with her husband, Anthony, for nearly 25 years, told The Republican.

Thinking they were renting to a local band during the off-season, Anthony and Cynthia agreed to let the space be used for a music video shoot.

The music video in question is “Ice Cream,” by rapper Troy Ave, who is currently awaiting trial on a charge of attempted murder, and it features a number of scantily clad women eating ice cream rather suggestively.

Anthony said that he was in church when he found out about the video’s existence.

“This is horrible,” he said. “You couldn’t pay me enough money to allow this to happen … not $100,000.”

“I am 70 years old. I don’t know rap music. If I had known what it was, we never would have allowed it,” Cynthia said.

Since the video’s release, there have been some negative comments left on Cindy’s Drive-In’s social media pages. One reviewer wrote, “After seeing a recent video that’s was filmed at Cindy’s, I am truly appalled. The language used in this video alone is disgusting, not to mention what these people were doing on the counter in this place. This was a good family place. Now I will never return.”

Another reviewer agreed, “How were the owners not present? As soon as i would have seen these pigs i would have said get the f outta here. You’re not going to ruin my business name like that. I wonder what the board of health thinks.”

However, Cindy’s still has plenty of die-hard fans. A supporter shared, “You know what I care about?! Your delicious ice cream, awesome burgers, and great staff! You know what I don’t care about? You using your private property to generate revenue for yourself by shooting a rap video. Nope. Don’t care.”

Another shared, “I grew up going to Cindy’s and whether we like it or not, times are changing, always have been!! If you want to miss out on the incredible ice cream and family fun over 1 video, that’s on you!… Don’t like what was done on the counter in video – grab yourself a lysol wipe and go to town.”

Cynthia and Anthony Maloni did not immediately respond to Yahoo Lifestyle’s requests for comment.
