Actor Robert De Niro on Tuesday warned of “civil strife” in the United States should Donald Trump win the 2024 presidential election.

“Imagine if he actually did win the election — it's over. We're going to have such civil strife,” the Academy Award-winning actor said in an interview on “The View.”

“He projects what he's saying. It's what he wants, what he envisions the world to be, which is chaos and craziness, total craziness,” De Niro added. “He’s done everything. What more do you need? It's almost like he wants to do the worst that he could possibly do to show this country.”

De Niro, a frequent and vocal Trump critic, earlier this month argued that democracy is at stake in the election — a sentiment he and “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg brought up Tuesday:

“If he becomes president again … he's not going to not stop being president,” Goldberg said. “His idea is to stay in until he drops dead.”

“That's it. He's not even conceding it now. So, imagine if he actually did win the election,” De Niro said in response.
