Over-the-top 'AGT' contestant continues to impress judges: 'Walking the fine line of crazy'

'America's Got Talent' contestant Bonavega, the glam-rocker who shocked and awed the judges in a sparkly bikini during auditions, returned to the stage during the second quarter-final Tuesday night and brought back the '80s. However, this time, he was a little more clothed, which didn't go over so well with judges Sofia Vergara and Heidi Klum, who wanted to see "more skin." "You kind of, like, remind me of David Lee Roth from Van Halen," said Klum. "Anyway, I think that you're like a rock god. I think you're so cool, so unique and I feel like you've been exercising a lot since the last time we saw you. But why the somber outfit to begin with? You should have been wearing this, and then got rid of some more." "I like the J.Lo outfit you wore the first time," said Vergara in reference to the sequined bikini Bonavega wore during auditions. "It was better for your body type. It was entertaining to watch you. I think you have an amazing presence, and an amazing energy but, I loved that outfit, the other one." As for special guest judge Kenan Thompson, who was filling in for Simon Cowell while he recovers at home from his recent back injury, the comedian thought Bonavega was "really cool," as he told the contestant, "I got to give you your credit, man, for walking the fine line of crazy. You know, you're so bold and you're so confident, that it's really infectious, you know, and I gotta give you that much credit."
