Over 700 notable Hollywood figures – including hundreds of celebrities and executives — have signed an open letter in support of Israel amid its current conflict with Palestine and terrorist organization, Hamas.

The letter, written by non-profit entertainment industry organization Creative Community for Peace (CCFP), calls for Hollywood “to speak out forcefully against Hamas, to support Israel, to refrain from sharing misinformation about the war, and do whatever is in their power to urge the terrorist organization to return the innocent hostages to their families.”

“The statement is the first of its kind – a call from the entertainment industry unequivocally voicing support for Israel and condemning Hamas’ terrorism.”

Notable names who’ve signed the open letter in support include Billy Porter, Ziggy Marley, director Antoine Fuqua, George Lopez, Mekhi Phifer, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jerry Seinfeld, Amy Schumer, and hundreds more.

Wonder Woman actress and Miss Israel 2004, Gal Gadot, added to the letter, “My heart is aching for the lives lost and families shattered. I’m praying for everyone who has been affected by Hamas’ terrorism and brutality. And I hope that the world remains steadfast in their support of the Israeli people.”

The letter comes one week after Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel from Gaza and left hundreds of civilians, including children, dead. Many pro-Palestine protestors, however, have argued that the Israeli government has also used violent means/war crimes to occupy the Gaza strip. Israel has also maintained a land, air and sea blockade on Gaza since 2007, giving them control of its borders and having a devastating effect on Palestinian civilians, NBC News reports.

“Resistance against occupation is a human right,” proclaimed pro-Palestine protestors.

Stars including Usher have released non-political statements regarding the conflict.

“The sanctity of life should never be in question…there should never be a debate. This is about our humanity,” Usher wrote shortly after news of the most current conflict went global. “Music has always unified and brought people together and to know the power in music was used by those who are filled with hate as a background to commit such evil act has shaken me to my core to know this is the world we now live in.”

He was also sure to wrap up his post with, “This is not a political statement.”
