It looks like we’ll find out who survived that White House shootout, after all. As part of Tyler Perry’s new deal with BET, The Oval has been renewed for a sixth season, guaranteeing that we’ll eventually find out if anyone of consequence was caught in the Season 5 finale crossfire.
And that’s not all. BET has also officially renewed Sistas for Season 8; the show is currently midway through its seventh season, having just revealed that Karen’s twins have two different fathers.

Perry’s multi-year deal also includes renewals for BET’s Assisted Living and House of Payne, as well as Perry’s four BET+ shows — Sistas spinoff Zatima, Oval spinoff Ruthless, All the Queen’s Men and Bruh. Perry will also be developing new scripted series for both BET and BET+, including one new project called Route 187.
“Tyler Perry is simply without rival as a creator of content that powerfully resonates with audiences across genres, formats, and platforms,” BET Media Group President and CEO Scott Mills said in a statement. “Our programming partnership with Tyler — undoubtably the largest deal ever in the industry with a Black creator — has been hugely successful, delivering the number one series across all TV among Black audiences and five of the top 10 series on cable among Black viewers. We are thrilled to extend our extraordinary relationship with Tyler and to continue to be the home of the largest and most diverse collection of new Tyler Perry content for years to come.”
Adds Perry: “Scott Mills and his team at BET have been incredibly supportive throughout our time working together, and I’m excited to continue bringing these stories to the screen. I’m grateful to our loyal audiences for watching week after week and engaging these stories.”
