Avowed anti-vax enthusiast Aaron Rodgers is throwing shade at gridiron rival Travis Kelce’s partnership with Pfizer.

As a guest on Tuesday’s episode of ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show, the injured Jets QB dismissively referred to Taylor Swift’s rumored beau as “Mr. Pfizer” as they reviewed New York’s Sunday Night Football loss to Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs.

In discussing the Jets’ defeat, Rodgers — who is riding the pine this season after suffering a tear to his Achilles during his Sept. 11 debut with the team — said, “[It was a] moral victory out there… that we hung with the champs and that our defense played well, and [Chiefs QB] Pat [Mahomes] didn’t have a crazy game, and Mr. Pfizer [aka Kelce], we kind of shut him down. He didn’t have his crazy impact game.”

Kelce recently teamed up with Pfizer to encourage the public to get both their flu shot and the latest COVID-19 booster (you can watch the commercial here). Rodgers’ Jets meanwhile are owned by Woody Johnson of Johnson & Johnson fame.

“With my schedule, saving time is key,” Kelce wrote in on Instagram. “The CDC says you can get this season’s updated COVID-19 shot when you get your flu shot if you’re due for both. That’s why I got two shots in one stop! Ask your doctor or pharmacist if it would be right for you. You can also visit CDC’s vaccines.gov to learn more and schedule an appointment.”

Kelce has attained a new level of fame in recent weeks as a result of the frenzy surrounding his possibly-romantic relationship with Swift. NBC leaned into the hysteria (and Swift’s presence at the game) myriad times during its coverage of the Jets-Chiefs matchup on Sunday Night Football.
