Outage leads to outrage as Chiefs game goes off air in Kansas City

It wasn’t the Heidi Game, but CBS in Kansas City had plenty of anger directed its way after technical difficulties forced the network to switch away from the Chiefs’ 40-26 Week 1 victory over Jacksonville.

The issue cost KC fans the ability to watch much of the fourth quarter — after months of anticipation to witness their team’s journey back to the AFC Championship game — and they certainly let CBS hear it.

Even in a game that was pretty much decided by the third quarter, there was still quite a lot to watch for.

Chiefs’ wideout Tyreek Hill had been carted off the field earlier in the game with a clavicle injury. So was Jacksonville quarterback Nick Foles. Not even the reigning MVP was spared as Patrick Mahomes was playing through a sprained ankle. The two sides also had plenty of extracurricular action — including a Myles Jack ejection for throwing punches.

That’s not exactly the type of game you want to cut away from when your team is expected to contend for the Super Bowl. Reportedly, the feed was troubled by a power outage near the stadium in Jacksonville.

If only TV trucks could run on the anger the situation caused in Kansas City.
