Making movies and riding motorcycles are cool and everything, but Jeremy Renner has said he’s “miserable” whenever he’s not with his 2-year-old daughter, Ava Berlin. So to help mark his 45th birthday, which is today, we’ve pulled together photos of their cutest father/daughter moments.

Of course, Renner only posts photos on social media in which his daughter’s face is obstructed — perhaps a condition of his difficult-to-reach custody agreement with Ava’s mother, model Sonni Pacheco — so our sweet selections are of the action star and the back of his fair-haired princess’s head. And, may we say, wee one can rock an updo like nobody’s business. See the pics…

5. Wildlife Explorers: “Learning to remain curious on a daily basis. Thx teacher, your student daddy #daddyschool #beauty #lovethiswoman,” he posted.

Making Renner’s birthday celebration better than last year’s? Renner finalized his very contentious divorce with Pacheco in late December. Last summer he told Playboy, “I see anything that takes me away from my daughter, whether it’s something good like making Mission: Impossible 5 or something bad like my divorce, as a distraction and an obstacle. Now, if anything takes me away and I don’t get to see her, I just won’t do it. I don’t care what you pay me. All my energy goes toward her and her well-being. We split the time with Ava equally now. When it’s Daddy and Ava time, that’s all I do.”

And he seems to enjoy every minute of it. We hope he has a great adventure planned with her today.
