Oshkosh can't-miss events include Paine's Faire on the Green, Jambalaya's Art in the Alley

OSHKOSH - This week in Oshkosh you can get your fill of arts and crafts at The Paine's annual "Faire on the Green" event or at Jambalaya's "Art in the Alley."

Or maybe live music is more your style. Enjoy free concerts at the Opera House Square each week during the summer.

Here are your five can't-miss events happening in the community this week.

1. 'Faire on the Green' offers array of arts and crafts for sale

“Faire on the Green” will run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 9 along the 1600 block of Congress Avenue in Oshkosh.

More than 100 artists will have their creations on display. Mediums include photography, jewelry, water colors, pottery and more. There will be also be food for sale and live entertainment will be provided throughout the day.

Admission to the Paine’s gardens will be free during the Faire.

2. Fine art can be found at Jambalaya's 'Art in the Alley'

Jambalaya Arts will host its third “Art in the Alley” July 8.

The day-long event will feature art of all sorts along with live music. It will be held in the alley behind Jambalaya Arts at 413 N. Main St., Oshkosh.

There is no admission fee, although donations can be made to Jambalaya, bands or any of the artists.

Some of the artists will demonstrate how they create, including wheel-throwing clay, hand-building clay, caricatures and painting on canvas.

There’s also a chance to make your own impression on a community art piece.

3. Free concert series all summer in downtown Oshkosh

Live at Lunch will feature Jazz For 90’s Kids on July 6 while Sly Joe & A Smooth Operator will perform July 13.

Hosted by Downtown Oshkosh, the free concerts are held noon to 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Opera House Square, 315 N. Main St., Oshkosh.

Grab lunch on your way, or take a lunch, along with a chair or blanket, then enjoy the live music.

Another chance for live entertainment is the Music on Main series Wednesday evenings. The free concerts take place 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Opera House Square.

4. Fifth Ward is featured at July 6 'Meet the Maker' session

Meet your local brew master during TJ’s Harbor local tasting series. The next session will be July 6, featuring Fifth Ward.

“Meet the Maker” from 5 to 7 p.m. Free samples will be available along with drink specials and some take-home product you can purchase.

5. Park Dance benefits Peace Lutheran preschool families

The annual Park Dance is scheduled for 5 to 10:30 p.m. July 7 at South Park. The large pavilion opens at 5 p.m. Live music by the Mason Street Band begins at 6:30 p.m.

Admission is free. Concessions will be sold by Peace Lutheran Church. Proceeds benefit the church's community partners, mostly at the preschool age and their families.
