Oscars 2023: See the Stars’ Red Carpet Looks

Hollywood’s biggest night brought a heavy dose of drama to the champagne-hued carpet, largely through an accent on romantic, voluminous designs chosen by many actresses, including Stephanie Hsu, Angela Bassett, Monica Barbaro and Florence Pugh. Still others chose minimalist designs in pale shades — including Emily Blunt, Zoe Saldana and Rooney Mara — and the coming days surely will spawn conversation about how switching the world’s most famous arrivals carpet from its celebrated red to a pale beige ultimately caused many gowns to fade a little too much into the scenery.

On the men’s side, meanwhile, tuxedos designed with classic, traditional lines and details ruled the night, while the jeweled lapel brooch is now a mainstay of every A-list guy’s evening look, as seen, for example, prominently on best supporting actor winner Ke Huy Quan, who donned a vintage piece by Fred Leighton.

Ultimately the resulting mix of fashion supported the idea that every awards show possesses its own style vibe, as the vast majority of attendees seen at the 2023 Oscars indeed honored the feeling that this climax of the awards season should exude elegance, with a splash of drama.
