Oscars 2023: Sofia Carson, Diane Warren will perform nominated song ‘Applause’

Oscar producers announced on Friday that Sofia Carson and Diane Warren will perform the Best Original Song nominee “Applause” on the ceremony. Carson was the star of Disney’s “Descendants,” while Warren is now a 14-time nominee who received an honorary Academy Award this past November.

It was previously announced on Thursday that music superstar Rihanna will perform “Lift Me Up” from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” at the 95th Oscars ceremony. There is no word yet on performances for the other three song nominees: “Hold My Hand” from “Top Gun: Maverick” (possibly Lady Gaga), “Naatu Naatu” from “RRR” and “This Is a Life” from “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”

Presenter announcements are also expected soon by producers Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner. The Oscars 2023 ceremony takes place on March 12 for ABC. Jimmy Kimmel returns as host for a third time.
