Oscars 2018: Watch Sufjan Stevens Perform “Mystery of Love”

At the 2018 Academy Awards, Sufjan Stevens rose up from beneath the stage to perform “Mystery of Love.” He was joined by St. Vincent, Moses Sumney, Chris Thile (of Punch Brothers and “Live From Here”), as well as his frequent collaborators Casey Foubert and James McAlister. Stevens was wearing a bedazzled pink-and-black striped suit jacket. Watch it happen below. The Call Me By Your Name track was nominated for Best Original Song.
Miguel and Mary J. Blige performed earlier tonight. Throughout the night, Sumney has been sharing his live Tweets from backstage.

Along with “Mystery of Love,” Stevens’ “Visions of Gideon” and the Doveman remix of his Age of Adz song “Futile Devices” were also part of the film’s soundtrack. The singer-songwriter is issuing these tracks on vinyl for a Record Store Day (April 21) exclusive.
