The 2021 Oscars finished with a handful of historic winners, from Chloé Zhao becoming the second woman to win Best Director to Yuh-Jung Youn becoming the first Korean performer to win an Academy Award for acting. Now that the longest awards season in history is over, what comes next for this year’s batch of newly-crowned Oscar winners? A lot of high profile and intriguing new films and television series, it turns out.

For Zhao and “Promising Young Woman” director Emerald Fennell, who took home the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, the future holds major studio tentpoles thanks to comic book films “Eternals” and “Zatanna.” “The Father” director Florian Zeller, the Academy Award winner for Best Adapted Screenplay, isn’t making the jump just yet to a major studio but he is tackling another one of his original plays for the big screen. As for Daniel Kaluuya, he has his eyes on a Netflix film franchise to call his own.
