Oscar-nominated actor becomes first-ever self-eliminated 'Masked Singer' contestant

Six more amazingly-disguised celebrities took 'The Masked Singer' stage Wednesday night, introducing us to Crocodile, Seahorse, Gremlin, Whatchamacallit, Serpent, and the show's very first toddler, Baby Alien. However, in a turn of events, and for the first time in the history of the show, the contestant who left the competition was sent home because he eliminated himself. That's right – the Gremlin just couldn't take the heat, literally. Host Nick Cannon stated that the celebrity under the costume stated it was "too damn hot," as the Gremlin began pulling off his own mask. So, before the panelists and audience even had a chance to vote on who was underneath the mask, the Gremlin spoiled the surprise and revealed himself to be Oscar-nominated actor Mickey Rourke. When asked why he decided to come on the show, Rourke joked that he just happened to be in the neighborhood, then seriously answered, "I do like this show. I watched, like, four eps you know, then they asked me would u be interested so I watched, like, from the beginning and all that ****, you know." Viewers on Twitter thought Rourke self-eliminating himself was straight up hilarious, and before Rourke said "end scene," he gave one last performance of Ben E. King's "Stand By Me."
