'Orphan Black' Cast Plays Who Said It: Clone Edition

It’s hard enough keeping track of one character’s memorable lines over the course of three seasons. Yahoo TV challenged the Orphan Black gang — who were in New York for their first PaleyFest panel — to recall the dialogue of six personalities, all of whom have the same face. That face, of course, belongs to Tatiana Maslany, the show’s Emmy-nominated and much-cloned star. Maslany’s regular characters on the fan favorite BBC America series include fiery Sarah, brainy Cosima, high-strung Alison, crazy Helena, bad-ass Rachel, and bubbly Krystal, so she and her co-stars — Jordan Gavaris (Felix), Maria Doyle Kennedy (Mrs. S.) and Kristian Bruun (Donnie) — had their work cut out for them when it came to guessing which clone said what.

“I think I’m going to ace this,” Bruun boasted early on, only to pick the wrong clone right out of the gate. But then, he was in good company. All of the cast, including Maslany, missed the first quote. Why? Because they forgot another unique rule of Orphan Black: sometimes one clone is playing another clone, a phenomenon that Maslany awesomely labels a “double layer.” But the stars got savvier as they went along, proving that they love their show as much as fans do. We said it: the Orphan Black cast rocks.

Season 4 of Orphan Black premieres in 2016 on BBC America.
