Oregon will try to hammer USC in the paint and on the glass

USC had a really hard time protecting the glass against Washington State and Washington with Joshua Morgan and Reese Dixon-Waters injured and Vince Iwuchukwu in foul trouble. USC has to find a way to limit an opponent’s number of possessions.

Heading into Thursday’s game at Oregon in Eugene, we talked to Ducks Wire analyst Donald Smalley about the matchup Oregon really needs to win against the Trojans. It’s hard to disagree with Don’s analysis:

Trojans Wire:

“The matchup Oregon needs to win vs USC on Thursday night is ____.”

Donald Smalley, Ducks Wire:

“Oregon needs to win the paint with the three 7-footers (Dante, Bittle and Ware) rebounding on both ends of the floor. When the Ducks win the glass, they win the game. With that kind of talent inside, you would think they would win the rebounding battle on most nights. But that hasn’t been the case due to foul trouble or inexperience.”
