Oregon COVID-19: Hospitals Have Fewer Cases But Still Strained

PORTLAND, OR — The Oregon Health Authority painted a somewhat grim picture of the COVID-19 situation in the state on Tuesday. Officials reported that there had been 49 more deaths on Monday, bringing the state's total to 5,469 since the pandemic began.

Meanwhile, there were only 883 new cases reported, continuing a recent trend of fewer than 1,000 new cases a day. There have been 402,436 total cases.

OHA also reported some potentially good news – that there were only 382 COVID-19 related hospitalizations across Oregon, which is 26 fewer than the day before.

Despite that, the state reports that there are only 9 percent of ICU beds for adults and 7 percent of non-ICU beds for adults available across the state.

The state did not report any new cases of the Omnicron variant in Oregon after reporting three on Monday night.

OHA also reported new cases in only 32 of the state's 36 counties.
