Oregon coronavirus update, Jan 25: 41 deaths and 6,904 new cases

41 deaths, 6,904 new cases

The Oregon Health Authority reported an additional 6,904 cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, along with 41 deaths.

Marion County accounted for 841 cases, while Polk County had 193.

Of those whose deaths were reported, five were from Marion County:

  • A 99-year-old man who died Dec. 8, 2021 at his residence.

  • An 87-year-old man who died Dec. 10, 2021 at Providence Newberg Medical Center.

  • A 65-year-old man who died December 12, 2021 at Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center.

  • A 74-year-old woman who died Dec. 13, 2021 at her residence.

  • A 63-year-old woman who died Jan. 21 at Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center.

Hospitals statewide are treating 1,057 patients with COVID-19, including 152 in intensive care unit beds. Modeling from Oregon Health and Science University predicts hospitalizations will peak within the next week.

The state's adult ICU bed capacity is at 91% and non-ICU bed capacity is at 94%.

Public health officials are asking Oregonians to follow coronavirus public health guidelines, including wearing masks indoors and in crowded outdoor locations, keeping distance from other people and staying home when you have tested positive or suspect you have symptoms of COVID-19.

  • 119: Total COVID-19 inpatients, 59% unvaccinated.

  • 8: COVID-19 patients in the ICU.

  • 2: COVID-19 patients on a ventilator.
