Oprah's advice to anyone running for president

Oprah Winfrey sat down for an interview on The Van Jones Show on Sunday night, where she dropped some sage advice for anyone running for office.

“I am not running for office — I’m not ready to go there,” Winfrey told Jones. “But if I were running for office, and I will say to whoever is going to run for office, do not give your energy to the other side. Do not spend all your time talking about your opponents. Do not give your energy to that which you really don’t believe in. Do not spend an ounce of your time on that.” Winfrey also parlayed her words of wisdom into advice for Parkland students, as she explained that winning is all about strategy.

“That’s why I said to these young people from Parkland, ‘You can’t just go down there and march. There is a strategy to the marching. There is an intention. There has to be a very clear intention behind what you’re doing and why you’re doing it.'”

Winfrey has already confirmed that she will never run for president. But when Jones asked the Queen of All Media what she would say to Donald Trump if she had 10 minutes with him, Winfrey flat out said she wouldn’t. “I would only speak where I feel that I can be heard,” Winfrey said.

The Van Jones Show featuring Oprah Winfrey aired Sunday, March 11, at 8 p.m. on CNN.
