Oprah Updates Her Latest Weight Loss, Remembers When Weight Watchers Called Her

Oprah Winfrey stopped by CBS This Morning to promote her new cookbook, which is actually so much more that. In the book, Food, Health, and Happiness: 115 On-Point Recipes for Great Meals and a Better Life, Winfrey writes about personal experiences she’s had during her very public weight-loss battle. Winfrey also talked about the moment she realized that she needed to lose weight.

“Weight Watchers called me, which I always think is a funny point,” Winfrey said, later adding what first went through her mind when she got the call: “I must be worse than I think, because Weight Watchers is calling me. It must be really bad.”

Winfrey’s good friend, CBS This Morning co-anchor Gayle King, was surprised at one of the experiences she shared in the book, in which she stood in front of a mirror naked and looked at her body. Winfrey said she did that not to look at all the parts of her body that she doesn’t like, but to appreciate her body for all it’s done for her. Winfrey pointed out that she’s lost 42.5 pounds and hopes to lose more, but that she will be fine if that doesn’t happen.

“I think if I lose 10 more, 20 more, fine. But if I don’t, I’m OK with it because I finally have control,” Winfrey said.
