‘Only Murders in the Building’ Teases L.A. Move in Season 4 Clip

A brand new teaser for the fourth season of Only Murders in the Building just dropped on Tuesday and for the first time, fans get a quick look into what to expect from the show’s upcoming season.

Coming to Hulu on Aug. 27, Only Murders in the Building’s staple characters Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Selena Gomez) are relocating from their New York City apartments where trouble tends to find them to Los Angeles. In the teaser, viewers learn that a Hollywood studio wants to make their viral and popular podcast into a film.
With a change of scenery comes some new characters. The star-studded teaser shows glimpses of newcomers Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, Zach Galifianakis, Melissa McCarthy, Molly Shannon, and Kumail Nanjiani. Returning guest stars include Jane Lynch, Meryl Streep, Richard Kind, Michael Cyril Creighton, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph.
In one scene from the teaser, Charles, Oliver, and Mabel are sitting across a long table from a number of people appearing to be entertainment executives. Molly Shannon’s character tells them, “Your life rights are the last thing we need.”
Charles tries to negotiate with her on behalf of himself and his friends, responding, “What we need is a number” as he awkwardly tries to slip a piece of paper with a dollar amount to her, but the table is too wide for him to reach her.
The popular series has been well-received by fans, with Hulu receiving its highest ratings for its premiere episode in 2023. It’s also beloved by critics who have nominated the show for nearly a dozen Emmy awards. Back in February, Disney Television Group President Craig Erwich told Deadline that he was excited for the adored characters to “take a little break” from the typical shenanigans they get into back in New York City and explore the setting of Los Angeles.
“In the same way that John Hoffman [showrunner] used the canvas of Broadway to tell what I think was one of the most unique seasons you’ve ever seen, the same unique Only Murders take will be applied to Los Angeles, which I’m really excited about,” he said.
