On “Smurkish Mode,” the Stockton, California rapper takes you through a typical 24 hours in his city: “It’s another day, finna roll this dope up and load up this K,” he says in a sinister delivery. There’s not much going on throughout Young Slo-Be’s day; he holds down the block, hits the strip club, and puts aside some money for his next shopping trip. It’s brought to life through a beat that sounds made for when the California sun goes down and you’re waiting to see where the night is going to take you.
