The Ones: T Jodii’s “Judge and Jury”

With artists releasing songs at a fast and furious pace it’s difficult for the average hip-hop head to keep track of it all—no matter how tapped in they are. That’s why we created The Ones, a daily post to highlight the song you need to hear curated by the Levels team. We sort through all the new songs—across all the platforms and subgenres—so you don’t have to. Thank us later.

T Jodii - “Judge and Jury”

Brooklyn’s drill scene is currently having a moment, but the borough could use a splash of melody, too. On “Judge and Jury,” Bedstuy rapper T Jodii does just that as he tackles an airy Xangang instrumental. When it comes to sing-rap deliveries, most in New York are likely to think of the R&B street ballads popular uptown. Jodii’s vocals are lighter, and he uses a distinct stop-start rap pattern. There’s a natural bounce to his voice and a creaminess that fits his summertime lyrics about his attention-grabbing Bape hoodie and his favorite flavor of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.
