The Ones: HAWA’s “Kill Some”

The must-hear rap song of the day

With artists releasing songs at a fast and furious pace it’s difficult for the average hip-hop head to keep track of it all—no matter how tapped in they are. That’s why we created The Ones, a daily post to highlight the song you need to hear curated by the Levels team. We sort through all the new songs—across all the platforms and subgenres—so you don’t have to. Thank us later.

HAWA - “Kill Some”

Last year, Berlin-born, New York-raised rapper HAWA sprung onto the city’s scene with two melody driven singles: the brooding “Might Be” and the reserved and confident “I’m Safe.” Her latest track, “Kill Some,” is similar in tone, but there is growth in the sound as her pairing with producer Tony Seltzer continues to materialize. The Brooklyn beatmaker’s clean and thudding drums give HAWA’s music a polish that most rising artists would have to go without. It’s made her sing-rap delivery standout in a crowded New York scene.
