The Ones: Darkovibes’ “Different”

With artists releasing songs at a fast and furious pace it’s difficult for the average hip-hop head to keep track of it all—no matter how tapped in they are. That’s why we created The Ones, a daily post to highlight the song you need to hear curated by the Levels team. We sort through all the new songs—across all the platforms and subgenres—so you don’t have to. Thank us later.

Darkovibes - “Different”

La Même Gang is the closest thing Ghana has to a boy band. In the past year, the collective has fine-tuned their blend of afropop, hip-hop, and Western-style crying-in-the-rain R&B. And with a bright singing voice and knack for slow-grinding odes to the women he loves, Darkovibes has quickly become one of the crew’s standouts. On “Different,” he slows it down even further, showing off his range. The song is a celebration of his culture, blending a smooth rhythm perfect for afropop DJs looking to set a mood with a funky electric guitar that’s rooted in the Ghanian music he likely grew up on. Darkovibes and La Même Gang are for everyone.
