Special 9/11 Birth In Tennessee
Sept. 11, or 9/11, is known synonymously as the date of the terrorist attacks that took 3,000 lives. But now, the 18th anniversary of the event will also be known by a Tennessee family as being a very special day.
Baby Christina, born on 9/11, at 9:11 p.m., and weighing 9 pounds, 11 ounces, is making headlines for the phenomenon. She was born at Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital during a routine C-section.
Nurse Janet Callicott, who works in the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit, said the details of Christina's birth are “one in a million."
Even the Doctor Was Impressed
Even if wasn't 9/11 -- if she was born on 6/11 at 6:11 and weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces, for example -- it would still be remarkable.
And the doctor who performed the C-section was surprised as well. Justin Brown, Christina's dad, told The Commercial Appeal:
“The whole time (the doctor) was stitching her back up, she couldn’t believe it, she kept saying, ‘Oh my goodness, I’ve got a 9/11, 9/11, 9/11,' " said Brown.
The timing was just right.
World Was Waiting On Christina
Christina’s mom, Cametrione Malone-Brown, adds that her birth can bring "all this joy" into what is always a solemn anniversary.
“She comes in on 9/11, there was so much devastation but she’s bringing all this joy and life into the world, because everybody’s been waiting on her,” she said of Christina.
