One of Donald Trump’s Biggest Republican Critics Just Launched His 2024 Presidential Run

The GOP presidential candidate pool is getting even wilder. Another one of Trump’s supporters-turned-foes has announced his presidential candidacy for the 2024 race, just a day before former vice president Mike Pence is reported to officially announce his candidacy.

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has officially announced his candidacy for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, joining a crowded field of contenders.

Christie, known for his combatant political style, filed the necessary paperwork with the Federal Election Commission and held a launch event in Manchester, New Hampshire, per CNN.

His primary focus is to challenge the dominance of former President Donald Trump — which is also what former Vice President Mike Pence is reportedly trying to do by throwing his hat in the ring.

Christie’s entry into the race marks his second presidential campaign. In 2016, he initially ran against Trump but dropped out and later endorsed him.

Despite facing a brutal firing as Trump’s transition coordinator, Christie remained loyal until the Capitol attack, which prompted him to break away.

Since then, Christie has gone hard against Trump. During town hall meetings in New Hampshire, Christie dedicated his opening remarks to excoriating Trump, stating that putting him back in the White House would only lead to worse outcomes than before.

Christie joins a competitive field of candidates, including Trump, Senator Tim Scott, Governor Ron DeSantis, former Governor Nikki Haley, former Governor Asa Hutchinson, and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. Former Vice President Mike Pence is also expected to announce his potential bid soon. It’s going to be a long road to the 2024 elections, y’all.
