A list of haunted houses, trails and hayrides in (and near) Cincinnati

Did you know that you can pay extra to get buried alive at a local haunted trail? Well, you do now. According to the Terror Town website, if you pony up for the red bracelet, "We may bury you alive, put you in the town stockade so that the mayor can make an example of you, or throw a burlap sack over your head and take you to meet your end on the trail."

So, yeah, we'll start with that one on our list of haunted houses, trails and hayrides in the Cincinnati area. Uhh, be careful out there, kids.

Terror Town, Williamsburg (Sept. 1-Nov. 4)

Old West town with haunted trail immersive experience tailored to the intensity level you want. No bracelet offers realistic fright experience, gold bracelet option gives you all the gore, but no touching by actors, and red bracelet includes physical touch.

New this year is a Blue Skull experience (11 p.m.-2 a.m. Oct. 12) that plunges you into a world of terror where you are the sole focus of haunt. Blue Skull is ages 18-up only, other frights are 16-up. DJ on Fridays, live bands on Saturday.

Land of Illusion Haunted Scream Park, Middletown (Sept. 8-Oct. 28)

Experiences include Phobia, Temple of Terror, Killer Klowns, Haunted Trail, Dr. Psycho's Haunted Estate and Dysphoria. Theme weekends, live music on Saturdays.

Dent Schoolhouse, Dent (Sept. 15-Oct. 31)

Experience the legend of the murderous janitor that made this school a haunted icon. All tickets include Monster Midway, Cincinnati Haunted House Museum and the Jack O' Lantern Showcase.

Attractions include Haunted Hayride, Forgotten Forest, Psychosis, Zombie Midway.
