One boat parade canceled, one postponed, weekend storms change other holiday events

Some events across the Treasure Coast this weekend were canceled, postponed or changed because of stormy weather conditions.

Here's what was announced as of Friday.

Indian River County Boat Parade canceled

The Indian River County boat parade in Vero Beach has been canceled because of hazardous boating conditions, according to the Marine Industries Association of the Treasure Coast's website. It had been scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday.

"The latest marine forecast calls for strong winds, heavy rain and rough chop through the weekend, making conditions much too dangerous for anyone to enjoy the parade," according to the website.

Martin County Boat Parade postponed

The Martin County boat parade in Stuart has been postponed a week to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 23, according to the Marine Industries Association of the Treasure Coast's website. It had been scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

PSLinLights changes

The PSLinLights Party in Port St. Lucie, featuring the Forever Motown full-stage show, on Friday was moved inside the MIDFLORIDA Event Center.

The festive pet contests, both in-person and virtual, scheduled for Friday was canceled because of a lack of participation and bad weather.

Holiday Lights at The Gardens canceled

The holiday lights at the Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens were canceled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday because of the expected bad weather. It resumes 5-9 p.m. Dec. 18, 22-23, 29-30.

Golden Ponds Christmas Drive-Thru postponed

The Golden Ponds Christmas drive-thru scheduled for Saturday was postponed to Monday because of the expected severe storms. Arrive early to get in line for the public drive-thru from 6-8 p.m.

Downtown Fort Pierce Farmers Market

The Downtown Fort Pierce Farmers Market that occurs every Saturday at Marina Square has been canceled because of the expected high wind, according to a Facebook post. The market will resume from 8 a.m. to noon Dec. 23.
