One of Athens' most famous craft beers is about to open a brewery in Los Angeles

Since Athena and Tropicalia were revealed as Thor's favorite beers in "Avengers: Endgame," it was only a matter of time before Creature Comforts went Hollywood.

Back in 2020, the Athens-based craft brewery announced plans to expand operations to the West Coast, and now an opening date has been set.

Located in the City Market South development in the Fashion District of downtown Los Angeles, California, Creature Comforts on Saturday will open a brewery and taproom at 1124 San Julian St. The establishment will be the second-ever Creature Comforts location and its first outside of Athens.

The L.A. brewery is also superhero sequel-sized, boasting a 3,000-square-foot taproom and a 10,000-square-foot production facility. Other amenities include extensive outdoor seating with a beer garden, an upper level covered patio and a private event space with a bocce ball court and cornhole. Customers will be able to order food from nearby Superfine Pizza to be delivered to their taproom table.

"Endgame" co-director Joe Russo became a fan of Creature Comforts beer while the movie was being shot in Atlanta, and he was instrumental in bringing the brand to the West Coast by discovering a space near his production company that was zoned for a brewery.

"(Creature Comforts') standards as great human beings matched their skills as exceptional beer makers," Russo said in a press release emailed to the Banner-Herald. "I think people in Los Angeles are going to value the way Creature Comforts builds community. Equally important, they're going to love the beer as much as I do.”

Creature Comforts downtown Athens brewery and taproom is located at 271 W. Hancock Ave.
