The comments are filled with well wishes, including fellow Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, 26, who wrote, "Congrats mama 🩷."

Skinner and her husband tied the knot in 2019, a month after getting engaged and two years after they first started dating.

In August, the athlete shared her maternity shoot with PEOPLE exclusively, opening up about the opportunity to "capture the beauty in the journey and appreciate the hard work and sacrifice that it has taken" to welcome her first baby into the world.

"We are so excited to finally have this little girl as a part of our family," the mom-to-be told PEOPLE at the time.

"Pregnancy has been super rough, which I was not prepared for! Sometimes I feel like pregnancy is harder than being an Olympian," Skinner said, noting she's developed "so much respect for all the moms and soon-to-be moms out there."

"Ever since I can remember, I’ve wanted to be a mom. Obviously, that was never an option as a competitive gymnast, so as soon as I retired after the Tokyo Olympics, I wanted to start having babies!" she shared. "My husband Jonas wasn’t quite as ready for kids, so we waited a year after my retirement before we started trying."

The couple announced they were expecting their first baby together in March, sharing the news on their respective Instagrams. "Surprise!!!🥳 We have been keeping the biggest secret and can't believe we are going to be parents!" the retired gymnast said.

"We are so excited for this new chapter and couldn't be more blessed…. Newest member of the family baby Harmer coming September 2023 🤍."

Speaking with PEOPLE after making the announcement, Skinner talked about her hopes that she would be able to tell her children about the "cool" experience of competing at the Tokyo Games, no matter what the result ended up being.

"I'm so excited. I hope I can be that mom — that cool mom," she said. "Just to be able to compete at the Olympic Games and to hit four events, do the best that I did was something that will last for me forever. It'll just be cool to be able to tell my kids one day that I went to the Olympics."
