Olivia Wilde Talks About Jennifer Lawrence Barfing at her Broadway Play

Earlier in July, Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence was in the news after she had to leave a Broadway production of 1984 when she started to, as Page Six put it, barf. On Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, one of the stars of 1984, Olivia Wilde, was asked by a caller if Lawrence had apologized for it.

“Listen, she didn’t need to apologize,” said Wilde. “I felt so bad and I sent her some matzo ball soup and bagels and she feels much better. She had a stomach flu. The poor thing walked in sick.”

“You know where she was supposed to go after seeing your play?” asked Cohen. “She was supposed to come here. She was going to watch the show that night. So random. [The Real Housewives of Orange County star] Vicki Gunvalson was on and she really wanted to come. Not even kidding.”

“Her whole night was ruined,” added Wilde. “She is doing better, thank the lord because she’s the best.”

Lawrence isn’t the only person to have taken ill during the show. Multiple audience members have thrown up and fainted during 1984. The Hollywood Reporter says it’s due in part to “extreme torture scenes” and “special effects like strobe lights, sudden blackouts and jackhammer sounds.” Even Wilde’s co-star Tom Sturridge exited a performance on a stretcher after he became dehydrated. Wilde herself broke a tailbone while rehearsing.
