Olivia Rodrigo's Top Snaps in Near-Wardrobe Malfunction During Live Show

Olivia Rodrigo suffered a near-wardrobe malfunction during her sold-out London concert on Tuesday night, leaving her backup dancers to hurriedly repair the tattered costume.

Rodrigo was giving a spirited performance of her track “Love Is Embarrassing” at the O2 Arena when her black leather top popped off, revealing her back to the audience. She quickly slipped her hand up to keep her top from completely falling off, even as she continued her performance.

The “Driver’s License” singer then summoned a female backup dancer to repair her snapped strap, which the dancer did while effortlessly hitting her choreography. As Rodrigo hit the line, “My God, love's embarrassing as hell,” she laughed and winked at the audience in acknowledgment of her embarrassing situation.

After finishing the song, before running backstage for a quick costume repair, Rodrigo joked to the crowd, “I almost flashed you guys, but it’s okay now.”

Many praised Rogrigo’s commitment, as well as her dancer’s professionalism. “The dancer flicking Liv’s hair away on beat ATE,” wrote @vezzaab.

“She handled it like a bloody pro,” enthused @niknak1405, “and the fact that it happened during ‘Love Is Embarrassing’ and she laughed it off is just brilliant.”

Another one of Rodrigo’s back-up dancers, wearing a more substantial but equally flimsy top, almost lost her shirt during a performance of the very same song back in March. Instead of trying to hide it, though, the dancer makes the gaff part of her performance.

As with the previous backup dancer and the singer herself, TikTok users praised the woman’s composure under stress. “Honestly props to her,” said @nursekitkat19. “She killed the choreo and maintained her privacy.”

Pop singer Katy Perry recently suffered an incredibly similar wardrobe malfunction on American Idol, which saw her co-hosts and crew members rushing to cover her up.

Rodrigo is currently embarking on her Guts tour, which includes 77 dates in North America and Europe. It concludes in Los Angeles on August 17 at the Kia Forum.
