"Good 4 u," Olivia Rodrigo. Not only is it her first time being up for an American Music Award, the chart-topping Disney star leads the 2021 pack with seven nominations including artist of the year, new artist of the year, favorite pop album and favorite pop artist.

Tailing Rodrigo is five-time AMA winner The Weeknd, with six nominations. Rodrigo and The Weeknd will go head-to-head for artist of the year, as well as favorite music video ("drivers license" and "Save Your Tears," respectively) and favorite pop song for ("drivers license" and "Save Your Tears (Remix)" featuring Ariana Grande, respectively).

Ariana Grande, BTS, Drake and Taylor Swift round out the nominees for artist of the year, considered the AMA's top award.

Reggaeton superstar Bad Bunny, TikTok queen Doja Cat and "Heartbreak Anniversary" singer Giveon are up for five nominations each.

Giveon, another first-time nominee, is up for new artist of the year and collaboration of the year for his hit song with Justin Bieber, "Peaches."

This year's award show will also shake things up by adding new categories including favorite trending song with nominees from TikTok on the year's most viral tunes, favorite gospel artist (for which Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, is nominated) and favorite Latin duo or group.

AMA nominees are selected based on fan interactions with music (including streaming, album sales, song sales, radio airplay, social engagement) that are tracked by Billboard and its data partner MRC Data, according to the organization. Winners are determined by fan voting.

In response to controversial country star Morgan Wallen's two nominations, awards producer MRC Live & Alternative released a statement: "Wallen is a nominee this year based on charting. As his conduct does not align with our core values, we will not be including him on the show in any capacity (performing, presenting, accepting). We plan to evaluate his progress in doing meaningful work as an ally to the Black community and will consider his participation in future shows."

The AMAs are scheduled to take place live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles Sunday, Nov. 21 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and will stream the next day on Hulu.
