Former Disney Channel star Olivia Rodrigo is stirring up controversy after she handed out condoms and morning-after pills at her concert.

At her St. Louis, Missouri show, the 'Good 4 U' singer gave out parting gifts after she teamed up with the Missouri Abortion Fund.

While some fans were extremely grateful for the condoms and Plan B, others were ticked off, slamming the singer.

Why Did Olivia Rodrigo Hand Out Condoms At Her Concert?

The distribution of condoms and Plan B comes after Missouri “began enforcing its trigger ban, which bans all abortions except to save the life of the pregnant person, following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in the case Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization,” according to Center for Reproductive Rights.

Rodrigo teamed up with the Missouri Abortion Fund as a stance on reproductive rights.

While condoms and morning-after pills were meant as a way to promote women's reproductive rights, many were offended by the parting gifts. Several X users took to the social media platform to slam the singer.

One user simply said, "Disgusting."

Another fan expressed, "I’m 25 and survived fine without taking it why are u giving this to 15-20-year-olds like it’s normal," as one social media user claimed, "She isn’t an artist. She’s an industry plant who is there to corrupt the youth."

"This should be illegal," another expressed.

Republican Missouri state senator Bill Eigel also posted on X that the singer should be "ashamed" for handing out an "abortifacient", which is a drug that causes abortion.

However, it should be noted that the morning-after pills handed out by Rodrigo do not end pregnancy, but they prevent it. Per the NHS website, "Emergency contraception can stop you getting pregnant after unprotected sex... You need to use emergency contraception within 3 to 5 days of having unprotected sex."

Others, however, were thankful Rodrigo handed out the items as one X user said, "Making sure people have the choice to not be a mother. Oh, that’s mother right there."

Another said, "OMG this is such a sweet gesture from Olivia and her team."

"We love seeing a celebrity who is actually dedicated to their cause and who doesn’t just repost stuff," one social media user wrote.

One Olivia Rodrigo fan praised the singer, "Pro-choice queen! We love her for that."

The 21-year-old 'Vampire' singer, who has been vocal about her support for reproductive rights, is trying to make a difference in the world as she launched her own non-profit, Fund 4 Good.

Last month, she announced the launch of her non-profit before a concert in California. “Before I pop onstage, I wanted to come on here and talk about something I’m really excited about," Rodrigio said, per Billboard. "The Fund 4 Good works to support all women, girls, and people seeking reproductive health freedom.”

The 'Drivers License' singer added, “The fund will directly support community-based nonprofits that champion things like girls’ education, support reproductive rights and prevent gender-based violence."

As a way to provide resources to her fans, she promised to have a Fund 4 Good table at every show on her GUTS World Tour. Plus, a portion of the proceeds from all ticket sales at the GUTS World Tour will go towards the Fund 4 Good.

The ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ actress recently spoke out against the Supreme Court justices when they voted to overturn Roe v. Wade.

“I’m devastated and terrified. So many women and so many girls are going to die because of this,” she told the crowd at one of her concerts, per The Guardian. “ I wanted to dedicate this next song to the five members of the Supreme Court who have showed us that at the end of the day, they truly don’t give a s— about freedom.”

Olivia Rodrigo has yet to comment on the backlash she has received.
