Olivia Rodrigo Performs 'So American' for the First Time with Sweet Lyric Change amid Louis Partridge Romance

Is Olivia Rodrigo offering fans a hint at the status of her love life?

The pop star, 21, made a subtle lyric change in her song “So American” during a concert on Tuesday, April 30, which some fans took as a nod to her boyfriend, actor Louis Partridge.

On the song’s bridge in the studio version, Rodrigo sings, “I don’t wanna assume this stuff/But ain’t it love?/Think I’m in love.” But on Tuesday in Dublin, Rodrigo went with something a bit more definitive, ending the line with, “‘Cause I’m in love,” according to a fan video shared to X (formerly known as Twitter).

Partridge, with whom she’s been linked since October, was in the crowd in Dublin, where Rodrigo kicked off the European leg of her Guts World Tour.

The night marked the live debut of “So American,” which Rodrigo released in March as part of a deluxe version of the album called Guts (Spilled). The song is rumored to be about her relationship with the British Partridge, 20, as it references a lover who teases her for being “so American.”

The Grammy winner and the Enola Holmes actor were first seen together in London in October.

In early December, when Rodrigo performed as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live, she and Partridge were spotted stepping out together at the afterparty. Days later, they seemingly confirmed their romance when they were photographed kissing at a gas station in New York City.

“They were very cute and [were] overheard saying it was their first time in the area,” a source told PEOPLE at the time. “They mostly spoke with gazes and body language. It was very cute.”

The pair — who were most recently photographed after a Los Angeles dinner date in April — have kept their romance under wraps, with Partridge telling British Vogue in March he believes dating “probably shouldn’t be done in the public eye.”

“There’s enough going on between two people. You don’t need the voices of thousands of others in your head,” he said. “I think she’s got it a lot worse than I have. I can be a bit of a normal person. She’s got tons and tons of eyes on her.”
