Olivia Dunne Nails Floor Routine as LSU Gymnastics Wins with Highest Score in Program History – Watch!

The senior scored well on both her floor routine and the bars, helping her team break a program record for all-time score

Olivia Dunne is not playing around during her final season as a student-athlete at Louisiana State University.

Dunne and the No. 5 ranked LSU gymnastics team scored a major victory over No. 7 Arkansas on Friday with a score of 198.475 to Arkansas’ 196.200. That total was the highest score in LSU’s program’s history, the team announced on their website. It’s also the highest score in the country by any team so far this season.

Beyond that, the gymnast's score ties for 14th place among the best scores in NCAA history.

On Dunne’s part, she scored well in both of her events, earning a 9.875 for her impressive floor routine, the third-best score of her team, and earned a 9.775 on bars.

The team’s head coach Jay Clark said that their focus and “main goal was to get a good performance, a complete performance,” and the record-breaking score was just the cherry on top.

“I know everyone wants to talk about the score tonight and that’s great. I do not focus on whether we get a low or high score. It’s about our performance. We did our job tonight and we can do that same performance somewhere else,” he said, per the school’s website. “For us it’s about keeping our eye on the next step ahead of us and just taking it one step at a time.”

Dunne, 21, posted three photos from the meet on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, writing, “doing what I love with the people I love!💜.”

Prior to the start of her senior season at LSU, Dunne told PEOPLE she’s grateful for her time at the school and she’s still learning how to navigate her online fame.

"Last year was probably one of the most rewarding and most difficult years of my life," she said. "Just having so many eyes on me was such a new feeling, but it was pretty cool at the same time."

Heading into her fourth season, she admitted, "This year I have the best grasp on it."

"The past few years, juggling NIL or ever since my sophomore year, since the summer of 2021, I've definitely had a hard time finding balance,” she continued. "That's really important because if you don't have balance, that can affect your mental health. I finally feel like I got a grasp on it this year. It's just compartmentalizing things mentally is very important in my everyday routine."

She’s also got her eyes on a very specific prize.

She’s keen on "winning the National Championship," she told PEOPLE in October.

"It's never been done at LSU before. It's unprecedented territory for LSU gymnastics," she explained. "I am so excited for one last go around and hopefully make it my best one yet."
