Olivia Dunne Decks Herself Out in Pirates Gear as Boyfriend Paul Skenes Makes His MLB Debut: ‘Slayed That’

Olivia Dunne’s outfit to support her boyfriend’s MLB debut was pitch-perfect!

The LSU gymnast, 21, donned black, white and yellow gear to watch Paul Skenes’ first outing with the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday, May 11.

Dunne wore a “Yinz” tank underneath a black Pirates bomber and black leggings — and topped off the ensemble with a button bearing Skenes’ face.

In a cute TikTok, the influencer mouthed “Boyfriend, I’m nervous,” to the camera as she watched the pitcher’s debut at PNC Park.

Skenes’ 100-plus-mph fastball fired up the crowd, and he went four innings and struck out seven batters.

But after allowing three runs on six hits, he was pulled from the game, which the Pirates eventually won, 10-9.

At 21, the former LSU baseball champion became the first Pirates pitcher since 1907 to record at least seven strikeouts in his major-league debut, according to ESPN.

"Once-in-a-lifetime experience, for sure," Skenes told Sportsnet Pittsburgh, per ESPN, on the field after the game. “Just an awesome experience from the first pitch, and I'm glad we got a win."

For Dunne, the experience seemingly proved more nail-biting.

“I always say, it’s way harder to be the person in the stands watching because I’m not in control,” Dunne said in the clip posted to MLB’s TikTok. “I can’t control — I don’t know how to throw a 100 mile [per hour] fastball, but it’s hard to have no control. Especially with gymnastics when you’re just watching. But I know he’s got this and I just have a lot of confidence in him.”

Last week, Dunne and Skenes shared their excitement about the latter being called up from the minors, where he spent less than a year.

“POV: you both wake up from a nap and find out he’s in the MLB,” Dunne, 21, captioned a hilarious video on TikTok.

With his debut now behind him, the No. 1 pick of the 2023 MLB Draft is looking forward to what the future holds.

“It’s going to be nice to get into a routine for sure,” Skenes said. “I’m big on routines and so the last week has been kind of tough with that. But, [the] bottom line is you have to go out there and pitch.”
