The Oklahoma State softball team is Big 12 Tournament champion for the first time in program history.

A couple of weeks after being swept in three games by top-ranked Oklahoma, the Cowgirls delivered in the tournament final by beating the previously once-beaten Sooners 4-3 in eight innings on Saturday at USA Hall of Fame Stadium.

OSU beat Kansas and Texas to reach the tournament's championship game. The Cowgirls trailed 2-0 at one point vs. OU and overcame Jocelyn Alo's game-tying home run late in the game to win.

"We try to emulate them in a lot of things that we do," OSU coach Kenny Gajewski said of the Sooners. "That's the standard. I watch it. I see it. We show our team, like, this is what it looks like, so do it. You're just as good.

"We're just as good. We're just as talented. We just gotta play like it, and we did that right here today."

The Cowgirls found out Sunday that they will host a regional tournament. They are the seventh seed, which means if they win the regional, they will host a Super Regional next week. ...

The women's golf team is headed to the national tournament, which runs from May 20-26 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Cowgirls finished third in their regional at Karsten Creek with a 17-over-par 881 for 54 holes.

Baylor won the championship with a 1-over 865.

But the big news came in the individual race. OSU's Maddison Hinson-Tolchard was medalist with a 4-under 212. She started the final round in a third-place tie.

A trio of Baylor Bears finished in a second-place tie, two strokes behind the champ. ...

The No. 3-ranked baseball team had its seven-game win streak snapped by Dallas Baptist, which kind of flies under the radar. The Patriots have an exceptional baseball program, plus they had home field advantage in this one.

A two-run homer off Nolan McLean in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Pats an 8-7 victory.

That loss at Dallas Baptist started a free-fall, too. The Cowboys followed that by being swept at home by Texas Tech. The sweep obviously hurt OSU's chances of winning the Big 12 regular-season championship outright and hosting a regional.
