Asoka is a 2001 Hindi-language historical drama film directed and co-written by Santosh Sivan. It dramatizes the early life of Maurya Empire monarch Asoka, who governed most of India during the 3rd century BCE. The film follows the life of Emperor Asoka in Takshashila. He is one of the savage rulers of Kalinga in history.
