'OITNB' Star Danielle Brooks Breaks Down Over Bullies After Appearing In 'Shape' Magazine

Danielle Brooks got emotional when opening up about what appearing on the cover of Shape Magazine means to her.

The "Orange is The New Black" star broke down when describing the powerful meaning behind her cover and her journey on proving bullies wrong.

"This is a big deal because I feel like the universe, the way the world works, it has built these invisible bullets to bully us in telling us who we’re supposed to be and what we’re supposed to look like," the expectant mom said.

Getting teary-eyed, Brooks added. “I’ve always had this desire to prove people wrong. To say, this body that I’m in is enough.”

Then the actress really broke down, talking about how monumental this is now that she's expecting her first child.

"Now that I am about to be a mother, it means even more to make sure that this human being that I’m going to bring in to the world knows that they are enough when they’re hit with all these bullets coming at them," she said with tears streaming down her face.

Shape unveiled her cover on Tuesday.

Brooks shared the photograph hours later, thanking the magazine for "making this dream become a reality."

While her Netflix hit show has come to an end after 7 seasons, the actress will be keeping busy when she welcomes her fist child.

As The Blast reported, Brooks announced she was expecting back in July.

Holding up her Clearblue results and baring her growing belly, she ecstatically shared the news to fans on social media, putting an emphasis on her "new beginning."

"When one chapter ends, another begins," she wrote. "Super excited to share with you my new beginning, I'M PREGNANT."
