Officials almost didn't notice Manu Ginobili draining a bizarre 3-pointer

Manu Ginobili is one of the craftiest passers and ballhandlers in the NBA. On Tuesday night against the New York Knicks, he committed the ultimate sleight of hand. During the third quarter, Ginobili attempted to throw an entry pass to Lamarcus Aldridge. Instead, he overshot his target and swished a three.

Oddly, Ginobili is such a skilled basketball magician, none of the officials noticed the pass fall through the hoop. Hilariously enough, while everyone else was stunned, Michael Beasley scooped up the ball and dribbled up the floor like nothing happened. The rest of the Knicks eventually trailed him as Ginobili frantically protested before play was whistled dead so that they could review the shotl.

Officials are having a rough season, but this was an egregious level of inattentiveness. It’s difficult to think of any instances in NBA history where officials completely missed a shot falling through the net. These officials sleepwalking through select games this year is not a good look. Ginobili finished with 12 points, but this may have been his play of the season.

Yes, even better than the buzzer-beater.
