'Officially off the market': Taraji P. Henson is engaged to Kelvin Hayden

Taraji P. Henson said, “Yes, y’all!”

The Empire actress, 47, was celebrating Mother’s Day with her beau of more than two years, former football star Kelvin Hayden, 34, when he popped the question. The whole thing caught her so off-guard that she “almost passed out,” she shared on social media.

Henson, who first received a Cartier bracelet from Hayden for Mom’s Day before getting her gorgeous ring, shared the news on Monday along with a photo of her rock next to some treats served up on a plate reading, “Congratulations.” She added that she’s “officially off the market” and “sooooooooooooo” happy.

Hayden also posted photos from Mother’s Day, including one of Henson. She’s leaning against him while they enjoy wine.

Henson has kept her relationship with Hayden, who last played for the Chicago Bears in 2014, largely out of the spotlight. In December, she finally confirmed they were together, despite the fact that they were seen together in 2015.

Taraji has a son named Marcell who’s in his early 20s. His father — the actress’s high school sweetheart, William Lamar Johnson — was murdered in 2003.
