If you're familiar with the 1998 film Practical Magic, newly streaming on Max, you already know it's non-negotiable viewing during the Halloween season. Based on the Alice Hoffman novel of the same name, the over-the-top cult classic stars Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens who get into some supernatural antics involving a murdered ex-boyfriend. It's about time those two and their midnight margaritas return to the screen. After all, October's other favorite bewitching siblings, aka the Sanderson sisters of Hocus Pocus fame, have two franchise installments under their capes with a third in the works.

Warner Brothers officially announced a sequel to the original on TikTok on June 10. The video includes a clip of Stockard Channing, Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, and Dianne West dancing to "Coconut" during the iconic midnight margaritas scene from the original film. "Me & the girls finding out that Practical Magic 2 is happening," the on-screen text reads. Warner Bros. officially confirmed the sequel with their caption: "It’s official… Practical Magic 2 is coming."

Variety reports that Practical Magic's original megawatt witches Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are in talks to return to the screen (they're already invested, as Variety reports they're both on board to produce). Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote the loveably bonkers film, has been enlisted to pen the second installment. In other words, this is not a phoned-in sequel.

Warner Bros confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that Practical Magic 2 is already "in development" and set to release "soon." Still, it's not clear who else from the original cast will sign on, but with Bullock and Kidman in the mix, chances are we'll see some other familiar faces. Let's also hope that stunning white Victorian house makes another cameo. Apparently that house was just a facade for filming's sake, but two decades later it still casts a spell.
