The Official Cause Of Kevin Hart's Car Crash Has Been Released

Official Cause Of Crash

The official cause of Kevin Hart's car accident has been confirmed. TMZ reports that the accident was caused by reckless driving, confirmed by the California Highway Patrol.

"Law enforcement sources tell us ... Kevin's 1970 Plymouth Barracuda crashed because driver Jared Black gunned the engine and lost control. The car had incredible power with a 720-HP engine. We're told the sudden acceleration and loss of control caused the vehicle to go into a spin and it ended up crashing through a fence and into an embankment."

No One Was Wearing Seatbelts

According to the report, it was "purely driver error -- willful or wanton disregard for people or property."

Additionally, none of the three people in the vehicle -- Black, Hart, and Black's fianceé Rebecca Broxterman -- were wearing seatbelts. Black and Hart both sustained major injuries and required surgery, while Broxterman merely suffered from some mild pain.

Expect Lawsuits

Hart released a statement through his lawyer wishing his friends the best.

"I have nothing but love for Jared and wish him and Rebecca a speedy recovery."

The CHP broke down the 1970 Plymouth Barracuda completely to ascertain the cause of the crash. All three people involved in the accident have lawyered up and "everyone's expecting a big lawsuit."
